Under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI Zone-1, PAU-KVK, Ludhiana (Samrala) organised five days training on crop reissue management (CRM) especially regarding the zero burning of paddy stubble. KVK, Samrala adopted the 5 villages with the guidance of Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Trg), PAU-KVK, Ludhiana (Samrala) under the CRM project. KVK is adopting a unique approach to reach the farmers to spread awareness regarding CRM.
On the concluding day of the 5-day training under CRM (held from 17th to 21th November), a special interactive session was arranged for the progressive farmers, who have been successfully managing crop residue for the last several years. These farmers come under the category of zero burning from last 5 years.
Dr. Veerpartap Singh, Assistant professor (Fruit Science) conducted 5-day training at the village Laton Joga of district Ludhiana. During this program, detailed information was shared for in-situ management of paddy straw using various CRM machinery such as the surface seeder, smart seeder, super-seeder, happy-seeder and mulcher along with hands-on training sessions. During training, farmers were also emphasized for the paddy straw mulching in vegetable kitchen garden and fruit orchards for the ex-situ management.
Dr. Parvinider Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science) aware the farmer for the various of usage of paddy straw like making of bags, baskets, carpets etc for the home utilisation as well for commercial purposes. Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) discussed the judicious use of fertilizers and appealed the farmers to go for soil testing. He also discussed the recommended agronomic practices for sowing wheat crop. The program concluded with the distribution of relevant PAU literature and a vote of thanks.
