COBS&H NSS UNIT ORGANIZES CLEAN AND GREEN ENVIRONMENT DRIVE AT PAU

The NSS Unit of the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a two-day clean and green environment drive on November 29–30, with the support of Red Ribbon Club. The objective was to promote environmental awareness, strengthening campus cleanliness, and encouraging students to adopt eco-friendly practices. The programme focused on sensitizing students about the importance of a clean environment and the collective responsibility of youth in protecting and promoting environmental cleanliness, sustainability, and campus beautification. During the two-day activity, around 100 NSS volunteers actively participated in various environmental tasks including tree plantation, campus cleanliness, and application of lime (chuna) on tree trunks. Students worked collectively to remove litter, sweep pathways, and create awareness about maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in public spaces. This activity helped students understand the scientific and practical benefits of tree care and maintenance. The event was coordinated and supervised by Dr Lavjit Kaur, Assistant Professor of Sociology, and Dr Anna Goyal, Mycologist (Mushroom), Programme Officers of COBS&H, under the guidance of Dr Harmeet Singh Saralch, Programme Coordinator, PAU. The programme officers emphasized that environmental conservation and cleanliness reflect the core values of NSS and inspire volunteers to contribute meaningfully to society. The two-day drive reinforced the NSS motto “Not Me, But You,” motivating students to take a pledge to continue contributing towards a clean, green, and sustainable environment.
