Punjab Agricultural University’s College of Basic Sciences and Humanities will be hosting its sixth Alumni Meet on December 3, 2025, bringing together nearly 400 former students as part of the Association of Basic Sciences and Humanities Alumni (ABHA). The event coincides with the College’s Diamond Jubilee year, marking sixty years since its founding in 1965. Senior university officers, including PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, are expected to attend alongside prominent alumni from India and abroad.
The meet is set to begin in the Pal Auditorium with morning registration and an inaugural session, followed by an afternoon programme in the College Lawns featuring recreation, cultural performances by students, lunch, and a General Body Meeting. Approximately 15 alumni living overseas, each with a connection to the College spanning more than 50 years, are expected to attend, lending the milestone even greater significance. The College, recognised for shaping leaders in academia, counts one Chancellor and ten Vice-Chancellors among its former students.
A key highlight of the event will be the recognition of thirteen faculty members who retired after serving the institution for more than three decades. Another major feature is the release of a coffee table book documenting the College’s sixty-year journey, capturing its academic evolution and community contributions since the first alumni meet in 2016.
A steady push from the College administration has shaped preparation for the meet. Dr. Kiran Bains, who leads both the College and the Alumni Association, noted that the Diamond Jubilee offers a timely opportunity to bring alumni back to the campus and reinforce the ties that link generations of students to the institution’s academic tradition. Her remarks pointed to a strong sense of ownership among current faculty and students, who have been closely involved in designing the programme.
The organisational effort also reflects a commitment to continuity after the disruptions caused by the pandemic. Dr. S.S. Hundal, Secretary, ABHA, highlighted that the last Meet was held in 2022 and that this year’s gathering restores the tradition that began nine years ago. He emphasised the significance of recognising long-serving faculty and the value of documenting institutional memory through the new publication, which he sees as a resource for future generations.
With participation expected from India and abroad, and with the College observing a commemorative anniversary, the upcoming Alumni Meet is positioned as both a reunion and a record of a six-decade legacy.
