Mr Vishal Goyal from Kapurthala visited the School of Business Studies, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), and the NIDHI-TBI (DST, GoI) team to explore opportunities for starting a honey-based agribusiness. He expressed keen interest in entering the honey sector and sought guidance and support for setting up his venture.
Dr Ramandeep Singh, Director, SBS and Principal Investigator, NIDHI-TBI, welcomed him and addressed his queries and concerns.
Dr Singh discussed possibility of honey for pets with Dr RS Sethi, Additional Director Research at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Scieces University (GADVASU) and resolved to work on this emerging segment to explore opportunities in this direction (Honey for PETS). He advised potential entrepreneur to undergo beekeeping training at Skill Development Centre, PAU and guided him on marketing, networking, and business planning. Dr Ramandeep Singh assured full support and assistance from the NIDHI-TBI team.
Dr Poonam A. Sachdev, Principal Food Technologist, FST, PAU and Co-PI, NIDHI-TBI, appreciated Mr Goyal’s entrepreneurial initiative and shared important technical insights.
Mr Sameer Gautam, Business Manager, NIDHI-TBI, facilitated the visit, guided him through the enrollment process, and advised him to begin with initial steps by understanding customer needs, product demand, and market opportunities.
