Dr. Seema Sharma currently serves as Head. Department Of Human Development and Family Studies at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, a position she assumed on November 7. 2023. With a distinguished career spanning over 30 years in teaching, research, and extension. Dr. Sharma has demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication in the field of human development. A dedicated academic, Dr. Sharma has taught 38 UG and PG courses and was instrumental in curriculum development and revision for UG, PG, diploma and certificate programmes aligning them with evolving societal needs. She has initiated one year Certificate course on Early Childhood Care and Education and acted as paper setter and evaluator for 14 different universities. She has mentored 14 M.Sc. and 9 Ph.D. students and has published 15 book chapters & 4 manuals & bulletins. Dr. Sharma as a passionate researcher, has made significant contribution to the research in the areas of mental health, media usage, socio-emotional well-being and life skill. She has published 98 research papers in national and international journals of repute. She has attended 60 conferences and workshops, published 16 abstracts and presented 17 papers in national and international conferences. She has acted as reviewer for various peer reviewed research journal and associated with many professional society. Dr. Sharma has also been actively involved in field outreach activities as she has organized 29 trainings and workshops, published 40 extension articles, 6 Radio/ TV talks, 23 lectures as a resource person to disseminate knowledge to anganwadi workers, school teachers, early childhood education trainers, rural ladies and adolescents. She is recipient of Dr. Parmila Pathak Memorial Award of Best Developmental Psychologist during 2012, conferred by Indian Psychometric and Educational Research Association, Patna. Recognized for her insightful and strategic approach to human development, Dr. Sharma continues to contribute meaningfully to the field by integrating academic rigor with social relevance. ensuring her work remains responsive to the changing dynamics of individuals, families and communities.
