An exposure visit for the farmers of villages Rajewal and Kullewal was organized by KVK Ludhiana (Samrala) to the Farm Machinery & Power Engineering (FMPE) Department, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. A total of 40 farmers participated in this visit.
During the programme, Dr. Mahesh Narang, Principal Extension Scientist (FMPE), provided detailed guidance to the farmers on various crop residue management technologies and machinery. He emphasized the importance, operational techniques, and on-ground feasibility of machines such as the Happy Seeder, Super Seeder, Smart Seeder, Mulcher, Baler, and other residue management tools. Farmers also interacted with the expert regarding field-level challenges and suitable machinery selection based on soil type, residue conditions, and crop rotation.
From KVK Ludhiana (Samrala), Dr. Parvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science) and Dr. Amanpreet, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) accompanied the farmers and facilitated the exposure visit.
The exposure visit was highly beneficial for farmers in enhancing their understanding of scientific crop residue management solutions and encouraging adoption of mechanized in-situ residue management practices.
