PAU-KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA, HOSHIARPUR CONDUCTS TRAINING ON NATURAL FARMING AT KHETI BHAWAN, TANDA

PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur organized a training programme on Natural farming at Kheti Bhawan, Tanda on 27th November, 2025. This training was organized in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under the National Mission on Natural Farming and farmers from Tanda block of the district participated in this training.

At the outset, Agriculture Officer, Hoshiarpur, Sh. Gagandeep Singh welcomed the experts & farmers. He said that National Mission on Natural Farming is being implemented through Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and in this context trainings are being conducted and model units are being established in the district.

While addressing the trainees, Associate Director (Training), PAU-KVK Hoshiarpur, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons emphasized the need for adopting natural farming to reduce the cost of cultivation, improve soil fertility and ensure human & environmental health. He motivated farmers to integrate natural farming practices for sustainable agriculture. Dr. Bons also spoke on the need for value addition and processing of natural farming produce for realizing more profit.

During this training, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) from PAU-KVK Hoshiarpur, Dr. Karmvir Singh Garcha discussed the principles of natural farming with the farmers. He delivered a detailed lecture on bio-inputs used in natural farming such as Beejamrit, Jeevamrit, Ghanjeevamrit, Brahmastra and Agniastra. Dr. Garcha explained their role in reducing dependence on chemical pesticides and fertilizers and also spoke about mulching (acchadhan) and waapsa (soil moisture conservation) techniques for enhancing soil productivity.

Chairman-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Citrus Estate, Bhunga, Sh. Jaspal Singh Dheri, also addressed the farmers and highlighted the activities of the estate while Horticulture Development Officer, Sh.Lakhbir Singh, shared the departmental schemes.

Progressive, natural farmers of the area, Er. Karamjit Singh from village Khudda and Sh. Harpreet Singh Saggi from village Kamalpur shared important tips regarding natural farming and their practical experiences with the farmers.

In the end, Agriculture Development Officer, Block Tanda, Sh. Lovejeet Singh thanked the experts for conducting this training and farmers for their attentive participation. He also encouraged the farmers to initiate natural farming practices in a phased manner.
