Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ropar, under the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized a one-day training programme on Natural Farming on November 26, 2025, as part of the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF). The event was held in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ropar. A total of 50 farmers and farm women from various blocks of Rupnagar district participated, forming the 17th batch trained under the NMNF initiative.

The training program was organized under the supervision of Dr. Satbir Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK Ropar. Dr. Singh outlined the main goals of NMNF, stressing the importance of adopting sustainable and eco-friendly farming methods that minimize the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, enhance soil fertility, and ensure food safety for a healthier lifestyle. He encouraged farmers to embrace natural farming practices to reduce production costs, strengthen the resilience of their farms and safeguard both the environment and human health.

The sessions were coordinated by Dr. Sanjeev Ahuja, Associate Professor (Vegetable Science). The detailed lectures and hands-on demonstrations on Natural Farming, with a special focus on preparing and using low-cost, locally available bio-inputs such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Neemastra and Brahmastra for crop nutrition and pest management were conducted. Dr. Ankurdeep Preety, Assistant Professor (Agroforestry) enlightened the trainees about the role of forest trees and their remains under natural farming. She also described about the use of various ethnoveterinary practices in livestock management.

To encourage wider adoption of sustainable practices, informative literature on natural farming was distributed among participants, inspiring them to implement these methods on their fields to preserve the environment and produce healthy food.
