PAU–KVK ROPAR CONDUCTS ONE-DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME ON NATURAL FARMING

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ropar, under the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized a one-day training programme on Natural Farming on November 21, 2025, as part of the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF). The event was held in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ropar. A total of 50 farmers and farm women from various blocks of Rupnagar district participated, forming the 16th batch trained under the NMNF initiative.

The training was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Satbir Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK Ropar. Dr. Singh highlighted the key objectives of NMNF, emphasizing the need to adopt sustainable, eco-friendly agricultural practices that reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, improve soil health, ensure food safety thus producing healthy food for healthy life style. He urged farmers to take up natural farming techniques to lower cultivation costs, reinforce farm resilience, and protect both environmental and human health.

The sessions were coordinated by Dr. Sanjeev Ahuja, Associate Professor (Vegetable Science). The detailed lectures and hands-on demonstrations on Natural Farming, with a special focus on preparing and using low-cost, locally available bio-inputs such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Neemastra and Brahmastra for crop nutrition and pest management were conducted. Dr. Aparna Gupta, Professor (Animal Science) enlightened the trainees about the management of animals under natural farming. She also described about the use of various ethnoveterinary practices in livestock management.

To encourage wider adoption of sustainable practices, informative literature on natural farming was distributed among participants, inspiring them to implement these methods on their fields to preserve the environment and produce healthy food.
