PAU–KVK SAMRALA CELEBRATES WORLD SOIL DAY ON-CAMPUS

KVK Samrala, under the Punjab Agricultural University, celebrated World Soil Day on its campus, with 25 farmers participating on 5.12.2025. Dr. V.K. Rampal, Associate Director (Training), highlighted the importance of sustainable soil management for enhancing crop productivity and conserving the environment.

Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), delivered a lecture focusing on organic farming practices and the role of soil health in long-term farm sustainability. Dr. Parvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), emphasized the importance of safe and nutritious food production linked to healthy soils. Dr. Veerpratap Singh, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), discussed soil management techniques for fruit and vegetable crops.

Farmers actively interacted during the session, and experts encouraged them to adopt soil-testing-based nutrient management for improved soil fertility and better yields. On this occasion, farmers were made aware of the importance of reducing chemical fertilizer dependency and promoting balanced fertilization. Demonstrations on soil sampling methods were conducted. Awareness materials were also distributed to farmers to promote soil conservation and scientific farming.
