PAU SCIENTIST FETED WITH ‘ISA BEST PAPER AWARD’

Dr Prabhjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), PAU–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalandhar, has been awarded the prestigious “ISA Best Paper Award’ by The Indian Society of Agronomy, New Delhi, for her research paper titled “Influence of organic amendments and different levels of nitrogen on production potential, economics and energetics of rice (Oryza sativa L.)–wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cropping system.” The paper was co-authored with Dr KS Saini, Kirandeep Kaur, Thakar Singh and Dr SS Walia.

The award will be formally conferred during the Sixth International Agronomy Congress on “Re-envisioning Agronomy for Smart Agri-food Systems and Environmental Stewardship”, scheduled at CSIR–NPL, New Delhi, from November 24–26, 2025. Dr Kaur completed her Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr KS Saini, Principal Agronomist, Department of Agronomy, PAU; her research focused on maximizing rice yield through agronomic interventions and its impact on system productivity, quality and soil health in the rice-wheat cropping system.

The PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal congratulated Dr Prabhjit Kaur for bringing laurels to the University. Senior officials including Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education; Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research; Dr M I S Gill, Dean, Post Graduate Studies; Dr Charanjit Singh Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture; and Dr Hari Ram, Head, Department of Agronomy, also lauded her achievement and extended best wishes to Dr Prabhjit Kaur and her major advisor, Dr KS Saini, for their continued contributions to agricultural research and extension.
